Men and women seeking to tighten and contour areas of excess fat accumulation now have a new and effective body sculpting option to achieve their aesthetic goals. Our Reno plastic surgeon, Tiffany McCormack, MD, now offers BodyTite, a minimally invasive complement to traditional liposuction that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to liquefy and remove stubborn fat in localized body areas while making it easier for skin to tighten and contract around the new body shape. Using cutting-edge radiofrequency fat removal technology and smaller incisions, BodyTite can offer exceptional body contouring for a shorter recovery time and less scarring than liposuction alone.
What is BodyTite?
BodyTite is an innovative treatment that uses controlled RFAL (Radio-Frequency Assisted Lipolysis) technology to gently heat the underlying tissue and skin in a given treatment area for easy fat removal and strategic body contouring. When combined with liposuction, this controlled heat application can melt fat prior to elimination for a smoother removal process during treatment, as well as less trauma inflicted on surrounding tissue. Additionally, the radiofrequency energy utilized by BodyTite can promote contraction of the surface skin, usually fostering a tighter skin texture and more defined body shape after the procedure when compared to other methods of fat removal. For the right candidates, BodyTite treatment can allow decreased visible scarring, an accelerated recovery period, and less post-procedural discomfort than other body contouring options.
What Can BodyTite Do For Me?
Depending on your treatment goals, the unique RF technology employed by BodyTite can provide the following benefits over other body sculpting treatments:
- Minimized post-procedural bruising, swelling, and overall downtime
- Smaller incisions
- Promotion of skin tissue contraction
- Use of local anesthesia or light sedation rather than general anesthesia
BodyTite can be especially ideal for patients with mild to moderate skin inelasticity, as the tissue contraction fostered by the RF energy has been proven to tighten the skin texture along with supporting structures. Dr. McCormack will speak with you during a consultation to assess whether BodyTite can help you reach your treatment goals, but generally, good candidates for the procedure include healthy individuals who are at or near their goal weight and struggle with isolated pockets of fat.
What Areas Can BodyTite Treat?
BodyTite is used to treat body areas wherein excess fat commonly resides, including:
- Upper arms
- Inner or outer thighs
- Upper back
While the above regions are the most popular treatment sites for fat removal, patients who are not bothered by excess fat and simply desire an improvement in skin laxity may also benefit from BodyTite. Dr. McCormack can help you determine whether your particular area of concern can be improved with this minimally invasive procedure.
What is the BodyTite Treatment Process Like?
Unlike other body contouring options which necessitate general anesthesia, BodyTite requires only local anesthesia or light sedation. During the outpatient procedure, a specialized wand is inserted beneath the skin through a small incision. Carefully controlled heat energy is uniformly distributed subcutaneously (under the skin) throughout the treatment site, while an external applicator concurrently applies RF energy to the skin’s surface. The temperature of the applied energy is monitored and regulated throughout the entire process to ensure patient safety. If liposuction is being utilized, a very thin suction instrument called a cannula will be used to remove the liquefied fat. The procedure time can vary according to the size of the treatment site as well as the number of targeted areas.
What is BodyTite Recovery Like?
After the BodyTite procedure, a compression garment will be applied to the treated areas to minimize swelling and facilitate proper healing of your new body shape. Post-operative discomfort, such as bruising and swelling, is usually minimal and BodyTite generally allows an abbreviated recovery period when compared to other body contouring options. Individuals often return to their normal routines within a few days, although strenuous activity should be avoided for one to two weeks. BodyTite patients typically achieve excellent results after treatment, with the full outcome realized within one to two months.
