You’re Invited to our ZO Peel Day on October 17th & 18th!

New and exciting skin resurfacing and rejuvenation technology is now available at Reno Tahoe Plastic Surgery, offering patients a minimally invasive and highly effective treatment to attain a more radiant complexion. LaseMD, also referred to as LaseMD GLO, is a state-of-the-art laser treatment designed to improve the tone, texture, and overall quality of the skin. Using non-ablative fractional laser energy, this technology can improve the appearance of irregular pigmentation, sun damage, freckles, melasma, and many more aesthetic concerns without significant downtime. Dr. Tiffany McCormack and Dr. Nichole Joslyn offer LaseMD at our Reno Medi-Spa to treat a variety of skin conditions and help patients restore a healthy, vibrant glow.

What is LaseMD?

LaseMD is a laser skin resurfacing treatment that can stimulate the body’s natural collagen and elastin production to provide healthier, younger-looking skin. This is achieved through non-ablative laser energy, which gently heats targeted tissue in the deeper layers of the skin while leaving the surface layer intact, typically resulting in little to no downtime when compared to ablative lasers. LaseMD is considered effective for all skin types when performed under the supervision of our plastic surgeon, with the magnitude of treatment tailored to the severity of one’s skin concerns. Patients often complete a LaseMD session during their lunch break and can resume normal activities immediately for a simple, yet powerful, way to repair damaged skin and renew a dull or uneven complexion.

What Concerns Can LaseMD Treat?

From a light exfoliation to extensive skin rejuvenation, LaseMD can be used to treat:

  • Moderate to severe sun damage
  • Hyperpigmentation and dark spots
  • Melasma
  • Freckles
  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Benign pigmented lesions
  • Actinic keratosis
  • Lentigo (liver spots)

In general, LaseMD is versatile enough to address an array of conditions preventing a healthy and even skin tone, often yielding luminous results after just one session. If you think LaseMD may be able to help with your concerns, Dr. McCormack can examine your skin during a consultation and suggest the best treatment option for your aesthetic goals.

What is Treatment Like with LaseMD?

Before your LaseMD treatment, a topical anesthetic will be applied to the skin in order to numb the area and provide a more comfortable session. The non-ablative laser energy will be transmitted via a flexible handpiece that is run along the skin. The process can be relatively quick, with the average session lasting 10 to 15 minutes depending on your concerns. Most patients report minimal treatment discomfort during LaseMD. There is usually no recovery time necessary and, although the skin can exhibit redness to some degree after treatment, you may return to your daily routine immediately.

What Does LaseMD Feel Like?

As the laser passes over your skin, a feeling of warm tingling is common. The intensity of this sensation is typically hampered as a result of the numbing cream. After the session is complete, it is normal for the face to feel hot, which is why a cooling mask is applied immediately following the procedure to soothe the treated skin and relieve the effects of the laser.

What are the Results of LaseMD?

As stated above, there may be some post-treatment redness for one day or so after the LaseMD procedure, although no downtime is typically required. The skin may also begin to feel mildly rough or sandpapery for a temporary period, which is usually followed by a natural glow as healthy skin replaces damaged areas. Once the skin has fully healed, patients can enjoy a remarkably healthier and more vibrant skin tone as well as a smoother, softer texture. Additional treatment sessions can be pursued to enhance the initial outcome of LaseMD and patients can preserve their results with adequate skin care, including use of sun protection and sunscreen.

How Many LaseMD Treatments Will I Need?

The number of recommended LaseMD sessions for your unique situation will depend on the extent of your skin concerns, as well as your goals for the outcome. Once your needs are known, Dr. McCormack will devise an optimal treatment plan to achieve your desired aesthetic and improve the health and appearance of your skin.
