Clinical Research Study for Patients with Capsular Contracture in Reno Tahoe

If you’re dealing with daily discomfort, poor sleep, trouble regulating your internal “thermostat,” or a general sense of feeling “off,” you may be experiencing the physical, emotional, mental impacts of a hormone imbalance. As we age, hormone levels naturally decline and can create a host of disruptive symptoms affecting your physical health, mood, weight, sleep, brain function, and even sex drive.

Both men and women are susceptible to fluctuating hormone levels, although an imbalance can cause different symptoms in male and female patients respectively. At M Spa — our award-winning medical wellness facility — our team provides personalized and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (HRT) options custom-tailored to supplement the body with the hormones it no longer sufficiently produces.

Supervised by our Medical Director and Stanford-trained board-certified plastic surgeon, customized HRT plans at our Reno practice can help you feel better, live healthier, and restore a happier quality of life.

What is HRT?

Short for hormone replacement therapy, HRT is designed to address hormone deficiencies and restore your hormone levels to a more balanced state. This is done by replenishing the body with the hormones it no longer produces naturally. Therapeutic hormone replacement can be effective and beneficial for those experiencing the symptoms of perimenopause, menopause, or age-related hormone decline in general. A personalized HRT plan is developed after our team evaluates your bloodwork, symptoms, overall health, and goals to determine the most optimal method of hormone delivery, dosing, and program for your needs.

What are the Benefits of HRT?

RT provides an individualized treatment regimen for both men and women to stabilize hormone levels and alleviate the symptoms of menopause, low testosterone, and other imbalances.
With proper administration and monitoring, hormone replacement therapy can improve:

Benefits typically vary from patient to patient based on age, health, baseline hormone levels, and other individual factors. These therapeutic wellness treatments are non-surgical, performed in-office, and do not require anesthesia or downtime.

How Does HRT Differ for Men Versus Women?

The goal of HRT for both men and women is to achieve healthier hormone levels and a more comfortable quality of living, but symptoms, the specifics of which hormone should be supplemented, dosing, and the method of hormone delivery all vary by patient.
While women commonly receive hormone replacement therapy to better manage the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause, men typically consider HRT to address low testosterone as they age.

Hormone Replacement Therapy for Women

For women, HRT is frequently performed to help manage the hormonal shifts caused by perimenopause and menopause. With the cessation of your menstrual cycle, declining levels of natural estrogen and progesterone can cause a myriad of disruptive symptoms, including:

  • Night sweats
  • Hot flashes
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Sexual dysfunction and low libido
  • Poor sleep quality
  • Decreased energy
  • Mood swings, anxiety, and depression
  • Difficulty concentrating and inability to focus

Depending on factors like baseline hormone levels and whether a woman still has her uterus, HRT may involve supplemental delivery of estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone into the body to equalize your hormones and improve your day-to-day symptoms.

Hormone Replacement Therapy for Men

Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) is performed for both men and women, but most commonly associated with male patients experiencing diminished levels of testosterone or “low T” as they age. This hormone is essential to male health and wellness and plays a key role in energy, strength, motivation, cognitive function, and performance.
As a result, men with low or unbalanced testosterone levels often experience symptoms like:

  • Loss of muscle mass
  • Low sex drive
  • Ongoing fatigue
  • Weight gain/increased body fat
  • Trouble concentrating
  • Irritability and mood swings
  • Depressed mood

If an evaluation indicates low testosterone levels as the reason for your symptoms, hormone replacement therapy can help better support physical, emotional, and cognitive function. We can tailor a therapeutic treatment protocol designed specifically around your lab results and goals. In addition, we provide ongoing monitoring to adjust your treatment plan as necessary and help ensure you’re experiencing meaningful improvement.

How is HRT Administered at M Spa?

HRT is customized for each patient uses bioidentical pellets to balance hormone production. With bioidentical pellet therapy, a small pellet — typically the size of a grain of rice — whose biochemical structure closely matches the body’s natural hormone production is placed under the skin during a quick in-office procedure. This usually takes no longer than 5 to 10 minutes. Small amounts of the hormone are then consistently released into the bloodstream to bring your hormone levels back into balance and reduce (or eliminate) symptoms. Our doctors and medical team provide ongoing monitoring and a continuum of care to ensure you’re receiving the most effective treatment regimen.

Why M Spa Uses Pellet Therapy

ormone therapy can be delivered in several ways, including oral tablets, creams, and injections. Each has a place, but most require daily attention and can cause hormone levels to spike and dip between doses. We use pellet therapy as our preferred method because it avoids that up-and-down pattern, releasing a steady, consistent dose around the clock.
Benefits include:

  • Consistent, steady hormone delivery, no daily maintenance
  • One brief in-office insertion rather than a daily routine
  • Initial dosing calibrated to your labs and symptoms

Lab work isn’t required before every insertion. You’ll complete baseline labs initially, a follow-up after your first treatment, and then annual labs going forward, sooner only if your provider recommends it.
Not a candidate for pellets? There’s more than one path to hormone optimization. Depending on your needs, we offer additional hormone optimization paths, including prescription creams, pills, and injections. While your options may vary based on geographical location, our goal stays the same: getting your hormones optimized in the way that works best for your body and your lifestyle.
